Every dog’s daily routine should include Dog Food Toys. Yes, toys are for fun. But they do so much more. You can use them to train your dog, too!
For example, if you have a dog that loves to mob people as they come through the door, put out a Dog Food Toy across the room and you’re dog will be too busy to misbehave.
Perhaps you have a puppy that loves to bark, and bark, and bark. Stick some peanut butter on a Licky Mat and freeze it. Your puppy will be so busy licking, he won’t think about barking.
Does your dog suffer from separation anxiety? Before you leave the house, load a Dog Food Toy with yummies and give it to your dog right before you leave. Your dog will be kept busy and happy for hours.
I often use a Dog Food Toy in my training sessions. They test a dog’s ability to learn new things and calms down their anxieties.
In this video, I review 10 dog food toys that I and my dogs love. Enjoy!
Most of the 10 Dog Food Toys I reviewed can be found on Amazon or online stores that stock dog supplies. Here they are by name…
- Snuffle Mat
- LickiMat
- LickiMat Wobble
- Dog Pyramid by Nina Ottosson
- Dog Twister
- Kong, green
- Kong, pink
- West Paw Zogoflex
- Dog Treat Maze by Nina Ottosson
- Puzzle by Nina Ottosson
What were some of the treats I put into the toys? Here’s my list of go-to-doggy treats…
· Dry dog food kibbles
· Wet dog food
· Cadet Duck Jerky, broken up into smaller pieces
· Peanut butter
· Cheerios
Some tips to remember…
- Supervise the time your dog has with the treats. It’s not a special treat if you leave it down all the time.
- Freezing the toy, after you load it with wet food, will make the food, and the fun, last longer.
- Make a dog food toy part of your dog’s every day routine.
- Deliver half of your dog’s daily portion in one of the toys.
Since we are under the social distancing restrictions due to COVID-19, I’m offering dog training sessions via Skype or Zoom. Yes, we can do it via the Internet! Please contact me and let’s talk about scheduling a session. Make sure you subscribe to my Dog Gone Fun! YouTube Channel, so you can catch my dogs in action as they play with their toys.
